On Thursday, November 10, the Delaware Valley Chapter of The Links, sponsored a visit by Charlayne Hunter-Gault, an African American civil rights hero and journalist. Hunter-Gault was one of two students to integrate the University of Georgia. Students read copies of her book To the Mountaintop and enjoyed a lecture form the acclaimed journalist all of which was made possible due to the generosity of the Delaware Valley Chapter of The Links, Incorporated.

On Thursday, June 2, we broke ground for our new campus! The new facility, which has been specifically designed for our students and specialized arts programming, will house the entire K - 12 student population. We anticipate construction to be completed in time for us begin the 2017 - 2018 school year in the new location.

CCSA scholars are all buzzing with excitement that one of their favorite authors is coming for a visit on Friday, October 23. Students have fallen in love with Sharon Flake, an African American woman who grew up in inner-city Philadelphia neighborhood. Flake writes about characters to which our students connect in a voice that validates their own. Our students quickly fell in love with her acclaimed book The Skin I'm In and pursued her second book, Money Hungry with similar intensity.

Denyce Graves, one of today’s most exciting vocal stars, will perform at Philadelphia’s historic Christ Church to raise funds for an extraordinary educational venture: the region’s first K-12 arts-integrated public charter school. The Benefit Concert for The Chester Charter School for the Arts (CCSA) will be held on December 1, 2015 – Giving Tuesday. All proceeds will benefit CCSA as it launches a new high school program.
